Flying High In-Home Tutoring helps students in Tidewater/Hampton Roads including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk.

Flying High In-Home Tutoring provides a healthy environment for students to discover their love and enthusiasm for learning.  For over six years, we have been successful in teaching various subjects by providing individualized, one-on-one sessions ensuring a compatible teaching and learning style.

We offer tutoring in all subjects including history, English, mathematics, algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, biology, chemistry, physics.  We tutor students from pre-K through adult including elementary or grade school, middle school, and high school, and college. We help students prepare for exams and provide test preparation for the ACT, SAT and GED. We also teach study skills and specialize in French and Spanish.  Academic performance is important and we understand each situation is different.  By using the proper technique and providing a personal assessment before we begin tutoring, we see a marked improvement in our student’s grades and test scores. Our qualified staff will make sure that you have the tools that you need to succeed and the knowledge of how to get there.

We help students in South-side Tidewater/Hampton Roads including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk, Virginia (VA).

Our Team

Christina Rarick

President & Tutor

Christina Rarick, the founder of Flying High, grew up in Virginia Beach and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and minors in both Environmental Science and Spanish. She traveled to three Spanish speaking countries to gather a deeper understanding of the language and culture and continues to hold a deep passion for teaching it. She has over ten years of experience being a Tutor, a Teaching Assistant, and a workshop leader. By using all that she has learned throughout her own studies, career and travels, she has become successful in helping others live up to their full potential by providing a caring, understanding and successful learning environment. Christina is also a member of Mensa.

Rachael Hall

Business Development Coordinator

Rachael Hall, Flying High In-Home Tutoring’s Business Development Coordinator, is a Virginia Beach native with a passion for education, the environment, and philanthropy. She has a B.A. in English: Professional Writing from Old Dominion University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English Education. Rachael’s hobbies include volunteering, gardening, horseback riding, and kayaking. She loves good books and good dogs and likes to meet new people. She is thrilled to be working for a company that reflects her educational values and desire to make a passion for learning contagious where she can enjoy collaborating with other like-minded educators! Rachael is an active member of the NEA, VEA, and LDA.

Sam Bedwell

Office Manager

Samuel Bedwell is an independent web developer and a professional dancer with the Elbert Watson Dance Company. Born in Rhode Island and raised in Virginia, he was homeschooled by his mom and has a passion for dance, writing, and other forms of artistic expression. He works for Flying High as an office administrator and internal software developer, offering his organizational skills and years of experience working with computers. He also loves baking and his boss.

Candace Rarick

Tutor Manager & Tutor

Candace Rarick grew up in Virginia Beach and is currently attending the University of Virginia for Business and Social Sciences. She enjoys helping children and adults learn new information, and she volunteers her time every summer to helping children learn to swim. She likes outdoor activities and learning new hobbies, such as scuba diving and rock climbing. She is also a member of Mensa.
